The Outreach & Education Team

The Essex Sexual Health Service Education, Outreach and Health Promotion Team provide a number of services within the local community aimed at preventing poor sexual health outcomes for the residents of Essex.

Complementing the services provided within local ESHS Sexual Health clinics our team deliver Relationships and Sexual Health Education (RSHE) within schools and colleges, engaging with people at community events and offering Sexual Health testing opportunities within community spaces, our team are able to provide advice and support to individuals of all ages and backgrounds.

Our Services

Community clinics Our Rapid Testing clinics run in addition to other sexual health clinics provided by the Essex Sexual Health Service. Across the county we provide weekly or monthly testing opportunities for the following:
  • Testing for HIV
  • Testing for Syphilis
  • Testing for Chlamydia and Gonorrhoea
  • Sexual health information and advice

Our South Essex clinic is open the third Wednesday of each month 10:30am-3pm. This is an appointment-based service only. Book an appointment by calling 0300 373 3421 or email us using the ‘get in touch’ option below. Appointments typically take 30-45 minutes. There is no need to access the main visitor centre. Once you arrive at the site make your way across the car park to the outbuilding called ‘the cygnet room’ (sign on the outer black door). Knock or ring the doorbell at the time of your appointment and you will be met by a member of the team. Free parking is available on-site.

Central Fire Station, Harlow

Command Building (rear of station), Fourth Avenue, CM20 1DU

Our rapid HIV testing clinic at Harlow Central Fire Station runs from 10am to 3pm on the first Tuesday of each month. This is an appointment-based service only. Book an appointment by calling 0300 373 3421 or email us using the ‘get in touch’ option below. Appointments typically take 30-45 minutes. Clients will be greeted at the door of the Command Building at the rear of the fire station. There is no need to report to the Fire Station Reception. Two hours of free parking is available a short two minute walk away in the Sainsbury’s carpark – please see directions on the map on the left. Parking is not available in the Fire Station itself.
