At ESHS we are excited to announce our new Youth Outreach & Sexual Health Education Series, Real Talk. This is a 6-week programme of interactive RSHE sessions delivered across pre-existing youth groups and provisions in Essex for young people aged 13+.
The programme is designed to build and increase young people’s knowledge and awareness of sexual health, relationships, and wider RSHE topics within a safe and familiar youth setting.
Real Talk is open to all young people aged 13+ accessing youth groups and provisions across Essex. It also supports staff and volunteers by increasing confidence in discussing a wider range of RSHE topics within their own settings.
Each weekly session is split into two parts. The first hour consists of an interactive group workshop delivered by an ESHS practitioner, covering key RSHE topics such as consent, relationships, STIs, contraception, sexist language, pornography, online safety, and pregnancy and parenthood.
The second hour consists of a confidential 1:1 drop-in session, where young people can speak privately with an ESHS practitioner about any of the topics covered. This time is used to answer questions and provide further advice and support.
Please note, if a safeguarding concern is identified during any of these sessions, ESHS practitioners will follow safeguarding procedures and escalate concerns appropriately in line with both the youth provision setting and ESHS internal safeguarding processes.
To acknowledge young peoples engagement within the ‘Real Talk’ programme, participants attending the sessions will receive a Real Talk Stamp Card. If a young person earns 4 out of 5 stamps (a stamp will be provided at each session), they can be entered into our 6 monthly prize draw, with the chance of winning vouchers for their youth club/establishment that can be used for a ‘Pizza night’ or something similar reward event.
